- “Seal of Fate” (SoF) was formed following the collapse of the guild “Holy Wrath” (HW). A group of members of HW left when a guild merger went wrong, several new members to that guild were immature and there was no officer presence to deal with it online, as the officers were playing too seldomly.
- Seal of Fate was formed on October 22nd 2005.
- The officers of the guild are numerous, over that time some have stopped playing, but remain officers in case they return. The most active raiding current officers are…
- Kerath (Guild Mistress)
- Nexumbra
- Cofba
- Gondaft
- Hazecloud
- Magiere
- Rudiger
- Sawyer
- Swoopeh
- We are an easy going, mature guild that is aiming to tackle the end-game content in a serious way.
- We wish to reflect the needs of members, and that may see slow evolution of the guild towards or away from a more hardcore attitude, as the core of the guild wishes, but we are always be respectful of our members who joined us when our aims were less raid focused.
- Seal of Fate is a guild currently made up largely of end-game players and their alts.
- We cannot offer much to non end-gamers as we raid most nights, although we do have nights off where we spend time levelling our alts together or grinding/farming/etc.
- We don't set a minimum age requirement although we expect all guild members to act in a mature and adult way whatever your age. If you are intending to join and raid with us then we are in truth unlikely to accept you if you are under the age of 16. If you are under 16 you should not be treating the game with the level of serious commitment that is needed to make progress in end-game raiding.
- The ability to interact with guild members in English, in a polite and considerate way is of paramount importance.
- Whilst we accept applications from non-endgamers the guild is geared towards supporting end-level play and not as a feeder guild for the big raiding guilds.
- If you are interested in joining us then visit our Recruitment link on the webpage for details of how to apply via a website form.
- The form will sent to officers who post the details in a private forum for guild members to comment upon. We will withhold your email from the post at that stage.
- We aim to respond to all applications within 3 days, but occasionally (when a class leader is unavailable) it may take a little longer.
- Contact an officer, using a /w, to invite you. The officers are listed near the start of this document.
- Register an account on the website, you will need it to be able to access the guild only area of the website to signup for raids. Note that this is a three-stage process
- 1) You register on the site
- 2) You receive an email which you click on to confirm your email address.... at this point the system sends another email to site administrators
- 3) They confirm your account by clicking on a link they receive at which point you should receive an email saying that you can log on.
- Note: There is a facility to register an account on the DKP pages, please do not do so. This is separate and the only people who need such accounts are DKP admins.
- Each class has its own (or shared for healers) chat channel. Find out the name of your class channel from your class leader and join it.
- If accepted then you will enter a probationary period of 2 weeks, or 5 planned guild raids to a major instance (whichever is longer). During which time you need to be reasonably active and participate in both guild activities and use the forum.
- During this period you will be allowed to join raids, earn DKP and get loot but will have a lower loot priority than full members. Also during this period you are not allowed to make any requests from the guild banks (some of which are restricted to veteran members only)
- At the end of the probationary period the officers may extend the period or make you a full member of the guild. In worst cases you will be asked to leave (or be removed) from the guild.
- Initiate - members on the two-week/five-raid probation period.
- Member – full guild members
- Veteran – for guild members who have been in the guild at least three months and have proved themselves to be fully active in raids and guild events.
- Officer - has been applied to a reasonable number of people in the guild, these were largely the founding members of this guild. This has also been applied to their alternate characters.
- Guild Mistress
Please note that it is the guild member’s responsibility to seek promotion to a higher rank via their class leader, and not for the status to be automatically assigned.
1: All members need to follow the rules and guidelines throughout this document, any questions regarding them please feel free to w/ the officers in game
2: Don’t do anything that will cause the Guild trouble. Spamming channels, ninjaing loot, asking for gold or similar will be enough reason for an instant kick from the guild.
3: All guild members should act in a mature and adult way, whatever your age.
4: All guild members should be polite and considerate to other game players, especially guildmates, at all times
5: Offensive Language - What may not be considered offensive to some, may be considered to another as completely unacceptable. This is what makes regulating language difficult. Also as a fairly relaxed Guild, we are entitled to our freedom of speech. Therefore, this is not a rule against language, but a rule of common courtesy instead. If any member feels another member is being offensive in the Guild channel, they must first ask that member to please moderate their language. If the problem continues, an officer must be notified. Remember WoW provides a filter to block most language it deems may cause offence.
6: Conflicts - The Guild Channel is not the place to settle differences. Accusations and/or disputes are not to be settled using the Guild channel. Conflicts between 2 members must be settled via private messages. Any conflicts that require the attention of one or more officers will be settled by creating a temporary team to talk in the team’s channel. Ongoing conflicts or people that cause several arguments may have their guild membership revoked in extreme cases, Officers will only issue one warning if appropriate and have the authority to remove members if this warning is ignored.
- The guild uses Teamspeak during raids and is a requirement for all newly recruited members that you can listen, even if you don’t have a mike to speak on it. Details of the server etc are available after you join the guild
- We highly recommend that uses install
- Omen, the threatmeter that has superseded KTM as the standard.
- Deadly boss mods and/or Bigwigs are excellent and again we strongly urge members to have one or both.
- Ora2 if you are raidleading.
The guild expects its members to participate in guild activities, as a guild we made the decision to become a raiding guild, it therefore follows that we expect our members to participate in guild raids. Whilst not prescriptive on the number, or proportion, of raids attended we do reserve the right to remove inactive members or those who are not attending sufficiently. We would not be draconian in applying this, but we do expect participation in guild activities to be a significant focus of our member’s gaming. Real life interventions are of course considered, but also we do expect that that members are frank and honest in their guild applications about their availability for raiding, and if somebody claims to raid every night but proves to be raiding very infrequently then we feel the contract between player and guild has been broken, and we would in extreme cases seek to remove such players.
We expect guildmembers to raid with the guild, not outside it. If you wish to take part in a 25 man raid outside of the guild then you must first speak with an officer to explain why you wish to do so. Tuesday night PUGs for unlocked players are not really a problem, but Thursday night trial runs with other guilds are more likely to looked upon dimly. VoA is regularly pugged without consent, as is 10 man below the current highest tier (so 10 Man Naxx is OK while we raid 25 man Ulduar and sometimes 10 man Ulduar).
· You can sign up for raids via the website.
· Priority for places go to those who sign-up in advance of the day of the raid (or more practically the time the raid leader finalises the raid list at some point on the day of the raid)
· Please check the “Raid List” forum if you are signing up on the day of the raid, a raid list may already have been posted, and you are better marking your late availability there rather than on the sign-up part of the website
· Priority is not on a first-come first-served basis, if your class already has the several players signed-up do not be discouraged from signing up. We may require more members than have signed up in total and therefore take extra from a particular class, or ask somebody to come as an alt. So we encourage you to sign up if you wish to attend, and let the raid leader make the decision on who comes.
- Please indicate if you are to arrive late or leave early. Sometimes we can find two players to share a spot through a raid, but priority will generally be given to those who can stay for the duration.
- In case of oversubscription the raid leader will try to ensure that players are rotated on a reasonable basis. In the top-tier instances (i.e. the most difficult one we are currently working through), then we need to take the best equipped geared and skilled players, so priority will go those players considered to be best geared and most experienced in end-game raiding. In other instances then the need to gear players up to reach the top-tier instances is more important, and a balance between defeating the bosses, rotating players, and making sure gear isn’t wasted will be reached.
- We also operate a R2R (ready to raid) policy, with gear levels needed for each class to be classified ready to raid. R2R members get priority on raids ahead of non-R2R members – but in the absence of sufficient signups not being R2R does not exclude you from a raid.
We need to gear up the mains of our less well geared raiders. We also have players with mains who need nothing from an instance and would like to come as alts, at least for some bosses. We can't wholesale abandon our mains and play alts, the guild needs to progress and gear up mains as a priority. On the other hand it is a shame to waste gear by bringing a set of Priests (as example) all of whom need nothing from an instance and then see items disenchanted. We ask that people still signed up for runs as their mains, but mention that they have alts available if needed. The raid leader can then alter balance depending on the instance difficulty, and the number of sign-ups to accommodate some alts if it is worthwhile to do so. Providing you sign-up in this manner, and play your alt when requested, rather than by demand, you will get equal call on loot priority. Please note that DKP is character based. We are not a service for gearing up alts.
Who is my Main? Can I switch Mains?
Most players will have been recruited as a specific character, a specific class. This is because we often have space in one class but not another. That is considered your Main, you may have alts which you wish to bring on raids, we have provision to do that listed elsewhere in this document.
But what if you want to change the focus of your game, and change mains? If that is the case then you should approach your class leader and the class leader of the class you wish to switch to. Have a talk with them. In simple terms if we have geared up a player then we expect some return on that, in that we don’t that wasted sitting unplayed when the gear could have helped someone else, while you then decide to gear up a second character. But we also understand the game is about fun, and getting gear for your characters is key to that. We will look dimly on someone switching mains after having taken lots of gear, and we may not permit it if the other class is full, or we are struggling for numbers in the existing class.
But we will not rule out the possibility, and will deal with each on a case by case basis, but frankly we hope your committed enough to keep on with your main character, and our provision to allow alts into instances is enough to keep you entertained. If you are so casual in your play that you wish to switch mains multiple times then this probably isn’t the right guild for you and you perhaps should move on.
- Make sure you have read the appropriate tactics from the forum, or done some research yourself on the internet.
- Make sure you have read your class forum for any vital information.
- We generally raid from 2000 until 2330, (0000 hours on a Fri/Sat).
- Invitations would normally be between 1930 and 1945.
- Between 1945-2000 we travel/buff in preparation to pull the first mob at 2000.
- If you are not online by 1945 you may be replaced.
- Make sure you arrive fully repaired.
- Do not rely on being summoned, as soon as you know where we are raiding then start the journey.
- Make sure you have appropriate consumables for the instances, we expect a Flask or a Guardian & Battle Elixir to be used on all boss fights. We expect buff food to be used, although raid “fish feasts” are commonly provided by raid members.
- If you sign-up and do not log-on then you will quickly gain a reputation from the raid-leaders as being unreliable, this is not good, real life sometimes intervenes, but if you can post to the raid list forums to explain why you will be late/absent it allows us to plan and shows you as being responsible, and more likely to make the raid list next week.
- Keep Raid Chat clear of non-urgent and social messages, this is doubly so during loot-time.
- In addition to keeping raid chat clear: you can make jokes, gratz, cheer, etc in /s, /g, /y, /classchannel if you want.
- Listen to the advice of your class-leaders and raid-leaders, or other raid members who may have more experience of the instance than yourself.
- Don’t obsess on the damage/healing meters, they tell a lot of lies.
- Do not spam damage meters in raid chat under any circumstances.
- Remember you are allowed to bandage yourself, don’t rely on the healers to heal you unless you are tanking a mob.
- Know your class, and have the “must-have” mods for your class if appropriate (Decursive, Clique etc)
- If you aren’t 100% clear what to do ask in your class channel, not raid chat.
- Wiping is normal. A night spent wiping in front of the same mob a dozen times is where most of your guild want to be, on cutting edge content (although killing it would be better)
· Please do not rush off at the end of a raid. We appreciate that if it beyond raid end-time then people may wish to sleep etc. But also be aware that you cannot have loot if you HS or go through a portal. If you go through a portal please do not then subsequently bid on any loot, as you are wasting everyone’s time by doing so.
- Loot is generally distributed via Master-Looter, if you see a loot box then probably the RL has forgotten to set it as ML or has DCd. Please PASS on the item unless you are asked to do otherwise.
- Loot priority is based on DKP, we use a modified fixed price zero-sum system. It is fair, and you will get the rewards you put into raiding.
- We do not use any class prioritisation for loot (apart from the one concerning melee and hunters described later), but we do have a rule about common courtesy. We expect healers to bid on healer items not dmg casters items for example, if no dmg caster wants then feel free to bid.. Likewise, minor upgrade or pass to guy with crappy blue weapon….. you decide, but remember we are trying to progress, not just get shiny loot for ourselves.
- DKP is awarded for being present at boss kills and is the sum total of the cost of items bought by the raid divided by the number of those present.
- Bonus DKP may be awarded for wiping on cutting edge content at the discretion of the officers and raidleaders.
- Further questions about DKP can be asked of Bran.
- More complete detail of our DKP system can be found in Annex A
· Nobody except the main account holder should play their character in any raid/group.
· You should never let friends who are not guildmembers have access to play your guild chars at any time – this may result in /gkick.
· Please remember that it is against Blizzard's terms for multiple people to play the same account.
Occasionally something will happen that isn’t covered by this guide. A decision will need to be made quickly. In such circumstances the officers will make a decision based on what is considered to benefit the guild most, and will be final for that event. However, with further time to reflect the officers may subsequently decide on a different policy for the future and update this guide to include it. In short “We will do our best to make the right decision at the time, and if we can think of a better way of doing it in future we will”.
Main Doc Ends
- Our pricing policy is available when you have access to the forums. The table below shows roughly the way we worked in TBC and the pricing has increased, but the basic structure is similar.
Item Type Gruul/Mag Eye/SSC BT/Hyjal
2-h items 120 160 200
Hunter Ranged 120 160 200
1-h Melee 60 80 100
Auxiliary items 30 40 50
1-h Caster 75 100 125
Off-h Caster 45 60 75
Tier pieces 90 120 150
Trash drops 60 80 100
Misc Boss 75 100 125
- Special Note: 1-handed hunter items cost 15/20/25 DKP for each tier, and 2-handers 30/40/50 DKP but with lesser priority than melee. In turn Melee are charged 30/40/50 DKP for ranged weapons if no Hunter wants. (throwing weapons are charged 30/40/50 to melee by default)
- Auxiliary items are those used in the “ranged” slot for classes that cannot use a physical ranged weapon. That means in covers Wands, Idols and Librams etc.
- Although we use a standard zero-sum system as described for earning and spending DKP we use a modified EDKP rating (Effective DKP) when it comes to allocating pieces of loot which are needed by multiple members. This is a temporary modification of your total DKP score based upon your attendance rate over the previous 30 days. If you have an EDKP rate of 80%, then your EDKP will be your total DKP multiplied by 0.8. Your EDKP rate is as follows….
If attendance is 0%-39% then EDKP rate is attendance * 2. If attendance is between 40% and 80% then EDKP rate equals 80% If attendance is over 80% then EDKP rate equal attendance.
Essentially the multiplier follows the following graph. You can see your current EDKP total as the right hand column of the two on the main DKP page within the class leaderboard, the left hand column is your total DKP for reference purposes.

If you have minus DKP then the EDKP = (1 – EDKP rate) * Total DKP
· That all sounds pretty complicated, in reality it means that if your attendance rate over a 30 day period is above 40% you are fine. If you have over 80% you receive a slight bonus when loot allocation occurs. If you have attendance less than 40% then a penalty occurs relative to other people. But you total DKP is just as normal, it is only a method of determining loot allocation.
· Additionally we have a six-month decay rule. All DKP earned/spent over six months is removed so that DKP hoarding cannot occur.
· We also have rules that mean you can pickup offspec gear DKP free, details are in the forum if you are successful in joining us.
· Pattern drops/Orbs etc are governed by rules also covered in our guild forums.
